A Prayer for The Church Father, I don’t enter your presence lightly. I stand in awe that the great I AM would allow me to call on Him as Father. Your name is Holy. You are worthy of all my praise. According to his great mercy, you have caused me to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Bless Your Matchless Name! Lord I pray for a renewal, a revival of Your church. I pray that we would repent of any and all evil we have allowed, and been a part of, as your church. Purge us. Wash us. Create in us a clean heart. Renew a right spirit in us. May we humble ourselves in your sight. Breathe new life, fresh fire, holy living and unwavering obedience back into your people. Father, revive your work. Make it known. In wrath, remember mercy Lord I pray. May we, as your church truly strive together as one in seeking your face. May we strive together as one in prayer. May your house be what you have proclaimed it to be, a house of prayer. May we strive together in true love. May you, the God of endurance and encouragement grant that we live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together we may with one voice glorify you. The world makes it easy for us to drift from the excitement of knowing you but, may we return to our first love. That love for you that was infused with a zeal for more of you. Then, having experienced your love, will you help us to love others as you have loved us? Father, we have so many planks in our own eyes yet seemingly, not so many that we can’t focus on the speck of dust in someone else’s. Help us love as you do. Looking past the dust, past even the logs to see the soul that you created and love and sent your son for. The soul that knows nothing of holy living or, the soul that struggles to live a holy life just as we do. The soul that, though it sins differently than we do, is still loved and forgiven just as we are. Help us to love them enough to reach out and help them embrace that forgiveness. May we also love the church as you do. After all, she is your bride. To not love her, is to not love what you love. You are coming for a bride without spot or wrinkle of which the Church today seems to have plenty of. However, you never turn your back. You lovingly woo. You lovingly call. You lovingly steer her back to the right path. You exhort, reprove and rebuke. Though patiently. When we are tempted to give up on the church, may we remember this. May we too stay in the battle and not turn our backs. May we lovingly and patiently call the church back to a wrinkle and spot free life. Oh God, increase our faith. Increase our faith in you for you are not a man that you should lie. Increase our faith for the harvest for you have said you will build your church. Increase our faith for answered prayer for there is nothing too hard for you. Increase our faith in one another knowing that love covers a multitude of sins. Increase our faith in the church for she is the only hope for this world. And so Lord where do we place our hope? Our hope is in you. May the forgiveness, love, and faith that we pray for today spring from the hope we have stored up in heaven. Father, we put our hope firmly in You. We need your presence. We need you to heal the church and when you do, I know that it will bring healing to our land. And yet, help us to see that you are only waiting for us. Help us turn. Revive us, oh Lord! Don’t take your Holy Spirit from us. May we return to the true joy of our salvation. Show us your way and may we boldly follow with all of our heart, soul, and mind. In Jesus’ powerful name, Amen.
